We fished the North Platte river (Northgate) on Sept. 4th and the North Fork of the North Platte River on the 5th. Top fly in Northgate was a red San Juan worm, but the best fish took a BH Prince Nymph.

On the North Fork the fish killed black wooly buggers with or without flash (dark olive with a black tail was also successful). Quite a few rainbows in the 18-22 inch range were landed. The water was very clear (3-4 feet) in Northgate, but quite muddy (1-2 feet visibility) on the North Fork. There were some fish rising to PMD's in the late morning in Northgate. On the Northfork there were a few fish (very few) rising to Tricos at around 10:00 am.

If you fish the Northgate keep an eye out for the otters.
