I fish this river only two or three times a year, and I must say I'm no expert on it. Well I thought it would be pretty warm and not crowded. Well it wasn't crowded, but neither was it warm. I got on the river at about 11:00 am and my guides were icing up for at least the first 30 minutes. By 4:00 they were icing up again.

I basically fished the area above the bridge that is right below the spillway. I saw lots of fish and caught some of them. Flies that worked that day were the Y Flasher, Kong and Brown Mono Midges. Not a tremendous amount of action and no monsters to speak of.

I did see a few fish rising, but did not try any dry flies. I gave a feeble attempt at some mysis patterns with no success. The flow was about 75cfs. Weather was calm and sunny.

Next time I think I would fish down on the Roaring Fork, while I didn't freeze, I think it would have been just a bit warmer and my guides would probably not have iced up as much.
